I’m Katharina - friends call me Katha, Kath, or Kat - and I’m the founder of Öökull Creative.
I'm a writer by heart, a seasoned content marketer, and a localisation expert.
I'm passionate about words, languages, tech, digitalisation, startups and fintechs, sustainability, music, culture, poetry, and sports.
Originally I’m from Germany, but now happily based in Tallinn, Estonia.

How it all started…
The story of Öökull Creative began with the wish to reignite the spark of good writing in the corporate world.
I often felt that the quality of content was being neglected.
That's why I founded Öökull Creative in 2019, with the goal of using my skills to drive positive change and be an advocate for creativity and the fine art of writing.
First, it was as a side business. But since the summer of 2022, I've been rocking it full-time.
It started with content creation. But my portfolio has evolved to include marketing consulting and communications.
I worked with startups, tech companies, entrepreneurs, governmental institutions, sports companies, festivals, and musicians – in Estonia, Germany, the UK, and the Netherlands.

I embrace creativity and always put it first. For me, creativity is a natural flow that comes from within - pure, raw, and vulnerable. It doesn’t ask permission or follow any particular guidelines. Meet the owl.
Why the owl? 🦉
“Öökull” is the Estonian word for “owl”.
And it’s also the meaning of my family name “Sowa”, which originates from my Polish roots.
The owl was my constant companion in life. So, it seemed only logical to name my company after it.
There’s a lot of mystery and myth about the owl, and probably the same applies to me.
To me, the owl represents knowledge, learning, and teaching skills. And that's something I’d like to pass on to my project partners.
